Palazzo da Montone

Palazzo Caigherardi is a old rural house as far as inhabited by the farmers who continually till Caigherardi’s farm, is composed by seven indipendent flats one of this supplyed with some structures for disableds, for a total of 25 beds and a sitting-room for collective activities.
The flats are completed of kitchen, bed room and bath,
restructured and furnished rispetting the rural and old local
traditions. The flats are so divided.
– a flat with seven beds on two levels, with the fire-place;
– a flat with five beds on two levels;
– a flat with five beds on only level, with fire-place;
– three flats with two beds on only level, one of these
wit fire-place;
– a flat for disableds with two beds at the ground floor.
The farmhouse has some natural products as vegetables, fruits, wines and the first fruits of the under wood as black and white truffle. The farmhouse can recive hosts during all the year.

Giovanni or Giansimone Gherardi, physicist and doctor at the Court of the duke Ferdiando di Gonzaga, born
and lived in Montone between the second part of 1500 and the first part of 1600. In Arezzo’s municipality, in the native palace, there is a tomb-stone in his memory.
Of his important capital, left in fortune to Montone’s community in 20 June 1630, there was the house today structured and become a splendid farmhouse situated on the verdant hills of “Alta Valle del Tevere” (Tiber Valley) near to the old medieval centre of Montone. In this old fortress of Braccio Fortebraccio from Montone also today the traditional manifestations take place and we can remember the famous recalling of “Santa Spina” (Monday after Easter and the second or the third week of August), celebrated with processions in medieval dresses.
In addition to these traditional events, the Umbria Film Festival takes place in July and characteristic exhibitions throughout the year like “Festa del Bosco” (wood’s feast, first days of november).
